CHEP is the world leader in pallet and container pooling services, serving many of the world's largest companies. CHEP is committed to reducing environmental waste and increasing customer savings through proper stewardship of all natural resources. The company's pallet and container pooling system eliminates more than six million tonnes of wood packaging from landfills by recycling wood and nails so that no scrap materials from its pallets are sent to landfills. Components that cannot be repaired or reused are recycled for fuel, mulch and animal bedding.
More than 2026.2 cubic metres (2,650 cubic yards) of wood are recycled each year at CHEP service centres - enough to cover 10 soccer/football fields 2.5 centimetres (1 inch) deep.

2005 Brambles announced in November that it will be taking steps to streamline the Brambles Group and unify its dual-listed companies structure by the creation of a new single holding company focused on its premium growth businesses, CHEP and Recall. Cleanaway, Brambles Industrial Services and the Regional Businesses will be divested.Brambles Industrial Services Northern Hemisphere steel mill services operations sold. 2001 GKN plc of the UK demerged its support services activities, which were then listed on the London Stock Exchange as Brambles Industries plc (BIP). BIP and Brambles Industries Limited of Australia were combined in a dual listed companies' structure. 1999 Records management established as an international business under a global brand, Recall. Short Bros acquired in the UK. 1998 Cleanaway acquired SKP in Germany. 1990 CHEP US launched as a 50:50 joint venture between Brambles and GKN plc. 1980 Redland Purle Ltd, UK purchased as a joint venture between Brambles and GKN plc and renamed Cleanaway Limited. 1979 Brambles waste management division renamed Cleanaway. 1975 CHEP's international expansion began in the UK by means of a joint venture between Brambles and GKN plc. 1958 Commonwealth Handling Equipment Pool (CHEP) purchased by Brambles from the Australian Government. 1954 Brambles Industries Limited first listed in Australia. 1925 Private company WE Bramble and Sons Ltd first formed. 1875 Walter Brambles began his career in Newcastle, north of Sydney, Australia.
